Meet Bradley Shaw

NYC Historian, Educator & Licensed Tour Guide
Discover New York With Someone Who Knows Its History

I'm Bradley Shaw, founder of NY History Tours, a licensed New York City tour guide, historian and educator.

I created NY History Tours to share the history of New York City through its neighborhoods, buildings, institutions and  most importantly, its people.

I was born on New York City's Lower East Side and have spent years researching, teaching and guiding tours of NY, specializing in its Jewish communities.

I hold a BA in History and Education from Brooklyn College. I have served as a docent, walking-tour guide and manager at the Museum at Eldridge Street, one of New York's most important institutions devoted to Jewish history.

New York's Neighborhoods Tell Its Story

One of the best ways to understand New York is to walk its streets.

A neighborhood can reveal the history of immigration, religion, politics, architecture, entertainment and everyday life often in places that most visitors walk past without noticing.

That's what I try to bring to every tour.

A Particular Passion for Jewish New York

New York's Jewish story stretches from the earliest Jewish settlers in colonial New York through the enormous waves of Jewish immigration in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and into the diverse Jewish communities that exist throughout the city today.

I have a particular interest in the Jewish Lower East Side and the neighborhoods, institutions and people connected to its history.

That interest has led me to develop Jewish history walking tours throughout New York City, including the Lower East Side, Jewish Harlem, Greenwich Village, Washington Heights and Hasidic Williamsburg.
